ASOR has several policies that pertain to the management of the organization: for example, policies regarding employment and policies regarding financial stewardship and record keeping. Other policies – for example, the Policy on Professional Conduct and the Website and Social Media Policy – address the rights and responsibilities of our members.

Tomorrow, November 6th, is the deadline to submit your paper for ASOR's Student Paper Award! This award is conferred upon the author(s) of a paper presented (in-person or online) during the 2024 ASOR Annual Meeting that conveys the results of a study about ancient Near Eastern and wider Mediterranean societies in a clear, understandable and convincing fashion. The first author and presenter of the paper must be a registered student at the time of presentation in order to be eligible for this award. The award is accompanied by a $500 prize. Applications for 2025 fellowships from the Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute (CAARI) are now open. The current fellowships include Graduate Student Fellowships and Post-Doctoral Fellowships. The deadline for the CAARI-sponsored graduate student fellowships is December 6, 2024. On Saturday, October 12, ASOR was pleased to participate in the Arc-tober Fest organized by Fairfax County Park Authority as part of Virginia Archaeology Month. The event gathered several archaeological organizations in the DMV area at Sully Historic Site in Chantilly, VA. Visitors were able to learn more about the profession, listen to tours of the history of Sully Historic Site, and engage in interactive activities led by archaeologists. HMANE cares for over 40,000 items from Harvard University's collections of Near Eastern archaeological artifacts, including pottery, cylinder seals, sculpture, coins, and cuneiform tablets.
